AI Readiness Assessment

AI

Remember when you first learned to drive? That mix of excitement and slight nervousness about mastering something new? That's where many of us are with AI right now. And just like learning to drive, understanding your starting point is crucial.

Your personal AI Readiness isn't about being a tech genius or knowing how to code. It's about understanding your current relationship with technology, your capacity for growth, and your readiness to embrace new ways of working. Think of it as taking a snapshot of where you are today – not to judge, but to guide your journey forward.

You're about to embark on an exciting journey – one that will transform how you work, think, and grow in your career. But like any great adventure, it starts with knowing where you are and where you want to go. We’re going to start with mapping out your current AI literacy, identifying knowledge gaps, and benchmarking your technical comfort level. These insights will serve as your compass, helping you navigate the upcoming exercises with purpose and precision.

This self-awareness will prove invaluable as you progress through more advanced concepts and begin implementing AI tools in your daily work.

Instructions

Let's start with an honest self-assessment. Don't worry about getting the "right" answers – this is about you and your unique starting point. This assessment evaluates your personal AI Readiness across three core dimensions:

  • Knowledge

  • Skills

  • Mindset

There’s a few guidelines I’d like for you to consider before getting started with the assessment:

  • Be honest - this is a tool for growth, not a test

  • Consider both current role and future aspirations

  • Focus on patterns rather than individual experiences

  • Evaluate both comfort level and practical experience

  • Reflect on your personal learning style

Download the assessment

You can grab a copy of the Personal AI Readiness Assessment here.

Consider opening the assessment in a .PDF reader (ex: Adobe Acrobat) that allows you to mark up the document. My personal preference is to open the assessment on an iPad in an app such as Goodnotes which provides the opportunity to mark the document.

If you don’t have access to either of the tools I mentioned above, you could always just download the assessment, grab a sheet of paper, and write down your responses to each question.

What did you discover?

Perhaps you're more AI-ready than you thought, or maybe you've identified exciting areas for growth. Either way, you're already ahead of many professionals simply by taking this step.

Remember: This assessment is a starting point, not a judgment. Use it to guide your learning journey and track your progress over time.

Save your results in a handy place that you can revisit as it’ll be necessary for the exercises in this series.

I’ll be back tomorrow with your next exercises – and trust me, it’s a fun one!
