APRIL SPEIGHT
I help MID -CAREER MILLENNIALS answer the question: WHAT’S NEXT?
“I have a very large presence. I’ve been known to have the ability to cause a significant energy shift in an environment. And that hasn’t always been a good thing.”
- Charles Bukowski
Hey, I’m April… Yup, like the Month.
DEVELOPER // POODLE MOM // AUTHOR // TURNTABLIST // PRODUCTIVITY AFICIONADO
Equal parts technical and chic. Welcome to my fabulous corner of the internet.
I began my professional career as a luxury menswear stylist and visual merchandiser. But then one day, I woke up in tech as a project manager and later a developer. It’s been 10+ years since I made that transition. I’ve since taken on various roles, climbed the corporate ladder, wrote some technical books, and graced a few big stages. And despite it all, the best is yet to come.
THE FACTS
-
I started out in undergrad as a Government & Politics major and realized that lawyer life wasn't for me. I eventually switched to Linguistics with a concentration in Mandarin and actually ended up graduating with my bachelors in Global Business & Public Policy. Grad school was a lot simpler, I graduated with my MA in Luxury & Fashion Management with a focus on luxury auto and luxury marijuana.
-
I've been at Microsoft for 5 years. I started out as a Sr. PM for interactive features and transitioned into Cloud Advocacy in 2018. Since then I've held various roles from both the IC and people manager side. Today, I'm a Principal Cloud Advocate in our AI team.
-
I've published 2 books with Wiley.
-
I'm originally from southern Maryland but moved to Los Angeles in 2018. Yes, the traffic is bad. And yes, the sun is always shining.
-
Not to name drop but...I've partnered in collaboration with brands such as Warner Bros., Pluralsight, and Codecademy. I've also shared the virtual stage with prominent figures such as astronaut Stanley G. Love and Bill Nye the Science Guy. There's still hope to one day work with LeVar Burton!
